Objective and Botanical Description of the variety:  AP Coachman is a Soft White Spring wheat bred and developed by Syngenta Participations AG. AP Coachman was selected for height, maturity, appearance, kernel color, kernel soundness, disease reaction, and end use quality that originated with a single cross made in December 2008. Area of adaptation and primary use of variety:  AP Coachman is primarily adapted to 12 to 18 inch rainfall, dryland production in Eastern Washington and West-central Idaho.   Variants and Frequency: Approximately 0.5% of plants were rogued from the Breeder Seed increase. Over 90% of the variant plants were taller (8-12cm). Up to 0.5% variant plants may be encountered in subsequent generations. Up to 0.3% red seeds may be encountered in all classes of certified production. Resistance to diseases and pests: 
  1. Hessian Fly: AP Coachman has shown above average resistance to Hessian Fly.
  2. Stripe Rust: AP Coachman has shown below average tolerance to current races of stripe rust.
